The Whitefish River
The west branch of the Whitefish River flows through a large portion of the property. Classic UP trout stream — cold, clear, cedar-shaded. Holds native brook trout and resident browns. Four main access points from the lodge via maintained paths.
The Forest
Mix of mature white pine, red pine, hemlock, cedar, maple, birch, and oak. Prime habitat for deer, bear, grouse, woodcock, turkey, and all the smaller UP wildlife. We practice selective forestry to maintain habitat diversity.
Groomed Trails
Approximately 6 miles of maintained walking and ski trails loop through the property. Trail maps provided at check-in; trailheads begin at the lodge. Easier flat loops near the lodge; longer ridge-walks and river-access trails for more adventurous hikers.
Shooting Range
Dedicated range area with earthen backstops, benches, and firing lines. Accessible by maintained road, 1/4 mile from the lodge. See target shooting page for details.
Open Fields & Food Plots
Several maintained food plots and openings scattered across the property attract deer and provide ideal wildlife viewing opportunities. Great for both hunting and photography.
Wildlife
Common sightings: whitetail deer, grouse, woodcock, red fox, pine marten, porcupine, snowshoe hare. Less common but present: black bear, bobcat, fisher, otter, moose, bald eagle, pileated woodpecker.
Adjacent Public Land
Our property borders Michigan state forest and the Hiawatha National Forest, adding effectively unlimited hiking, hunting, and wandering acreage. Access is seamless from the lodge.
